Week 11- Archimedes Principle
For the lab this week, we played with water and pop cans. I really liked this lab because I got so many of my initial thoughts proven wrong. We found that diet pop would float when submerged in water but regular pop would sink. This is because of the real sugar versus fake sugar in pop. It had to do with buoyancy, which is what allows things to float. We then moved on to learn about Archimedes Principle in real life by using clay crowns. My group decided to fill up a bucket completely full of water. Then we put the clay crown in and measured the amount of water that was displaced out of the full bucket to find the density of the crown.
